Who didn’t want to be a cowboy when they were growing up? We suppose it’s for the best that we didn’t all fulfill our dreams, or else America would have a ludicrous cowboy-to-cow ratio. There would be dozens of cowboys all trying to wrangle the same confused cow at once. It would be utter chaos, and possibly lead to the collapse of the beef industry.

But thanks to Black Hills Ammunition of South Dakota, at least we can all shoot like cowboys! This ammunition is loaded with smokeless powder and noncorrosive Boxer primers, but aside from that it performs just like the 38 Special ammo from the turn of the century.

This cartridge is loaded with a 158 grain conical lead nose bullet. It is essentially a lead round nose, but with a flat profile that stamps a clean hole through paper and engages optimally with the face of a steel target. No copper jacket, no hollow point nose cavity – just a surly chunk of lead.

This round’s 800 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 6” test barrel. It is brass-cased and reloadable, and only available with the fastest shipping when you order it from Lucky Gunner.
