This .38 Special ammunition from Magtech is specially optimized for cowboy action shooting, although it can also be used for general target shooting as well. These cartridges fire heavy 158 grain flat-nosed lead bullets that can be safely loaded into tubular magazines and fired at steel targets as well as paper ones. A low muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second results in low felt recoil for faster aimed fire.

Introduced in 1898 for military use, the .38 Special is somewhat of an anachronism to action shooting but serves well in practical terms due to its accuracy, low recoil, and adaptability to classic carbines and revolvers.

Magtech ammunition is loaded in Brazil by defense contractor CBC, which also produces its own primers, cases, and propellant. This ammo is non-corrosive and uses reloadable brass.
