Ruger's new and unique line of self defense ammunition delivers terminal performance without the use of expanding projectiles. The Inceptor line features PolyCase ARX projectiles that are composed of an injection molded copper/polymer material. This leads to very "light for the caliber" projectiles that move fast and produce noticeably lower recoil that traditional bullets.

In this 40 S&W configuration, each projectile weighs in at 97 grains and leaves the barrel at a high muzzle velocity of 1,410 feet per second. The ARX three fin design disperses energy laterally by displacing fluid in soft targets. This hydraulic displacement is what allows these bullets to effectively stop threats without any terminal expansion.

Although the projectiles look different that traditional bullets, the overall shape and contour is very similar to round nose or ball ammo, allowing these rounds to function in semi-automatics with ease. This ammunition is loaded by PolyCase in the USA using fresh brass cases and non-corrosive boxer primers.
