This round’s bullet is special. It’s the CX, which foregoes the classic lead-core/copper-jacket design in favor of pure copper-alloy construction. A cleaner barrel and cleaner venison harvest await those who hunt with this compliant 6.5 CM ammo. A worse time awaits for the deer, however, as the CX’s robust copper body survives high-velocity impact without shedding more than 5% of its weight, and its tip and nose cavity trigger expansion immediately after collision.
The CX is no slouch in the accuracy department, either. Hornady machines grooves around its shank to optimize bearing surface and reduce drag. The Big H also outfits the CX with a Heat Shield tip, which preserves its drag-minimizing flat meplat in the face of aerodynamic heating.
