Real snipers are no strangers to the hollow point boat tail. It’s a bullet that puts all of its chips on accuracy, with a fully jacketed base that doesn’t deform under ignition, thin concentric jacket and evenly weighted lead core, narrow nose cavity and streamlined nose profile, and of course a tapered base for added stability and downrange velocity retention. No terminal expansion to speak of, but that’s hardly of concern to a dedicated target bullet such as the HPBT!
This ammunition’s real reliable. Winchester’s carefully standardized 140 grain HPBTs, true match-grade primers, and premium propellant won’t have it any other way. If your barrel’s 24” long (i.e. the same length as Winchester’s 6.5 CM test barrel), then the 0.291 G7 BC bullet promises the following long-range performance:
0yds: 2,710 fps | 2,283 ft lbs | -1.5”
100yds: 2,557 fps | 2,033 ft lbs | 11.0”
200yds: 2,409 fps | 1,804 ft lbs | 18.0”
300yds: 2,265 fps | 1,595 ft lbs | 19.1”
400yds: 2,126 fps | 1,406 ft lbs | 13.5”
500yds: 1,992 fps | 1,234 ft lbs | 0.0”
600yds: 1,862 fps | 1,078 ft lbs | -22.1”
700yds: 1,737 fps | 938 ft lbs | -54.3”
