This 7.62x51 cartridge hails from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the primary small arms ammo manufacturer for Uncle Sam. As M118LR spec ammo it’s match grade and specifically designed for sniping. Lake City fortunately made more ammo that the snipers needed, so now’s your chance to shoot like the pros!

An M118LR round necessarily has a 175 grain MatchKing by Sierra. It’s totally optimized for accuracy and accuracy only, with a wafer-thin copper jacket engineered to a concentricity standard of .0003 – virtually zero runout or variation throws off the MatchKing’s balance. The target bullet’s open tip proves that its core perfectly conforms to the interior of its jacket, and that its weight is distributed toward its base for even finer rotational stability. The MatchKing moves through the air like a beam of light thanks to its ballistically efficient boat tail and tapering meplat. All in all, it’s easy to see why competitive shooters consistently dominate matches with MatchKings – and why snipers want it too.

You can plainly see that this round’s new brass case is annealed around its neck. That’s not a defect or sign it has been reloaded, but rather proof that it is heat-treated to expand and seal the chamber correctly upon ignition. Unlike other tougher military grade 7.62 primers that are meant for machine guns, this round’s sensitive Boxer primer is designed for bolt-action rifles. Each round’s propellant charge reliably delivers a muzzle velocity around 2,600 fps out of a 26” barrel.

You can fire 7.62x51 ammo in a rifle chambered for 308 Win!
