Back in the day, the Japanese military loaded the Type 97 ordinary cartridge with a 12 gram bullet; the Type 92 ordinary cartridge, a 13 gram bullet. In metric, this round’s bullet weighs ~11.3 grams. That alongside its 2,500 fps muzzle velocity makes it pretty much mil-spec to Japan’s original standards.
Soft point bullets are a thing of medium game hunting – not warfare. Norma designs an effective SP by giving it a thin and tapered jacket. This helps the lead-core bullet flatten out and deal more damage, even when it reaches its goal at a lower velocity. We estimate the 0.262 G1 BC bullet’s trajectory to look like this:
0 yds: -1.50”
100 yds: 2.95”
200 yds: 0.02”
300 yds: -12.77”
400 yds: -38.90”
500 yds: -83.19”
Norma manufactures ammunition in Sweden. These quality loads are no exception, and have Norma’s high-quality reloadable brass cases and highly responsive primers to show for it.
