9mm 124 grain JHP. This might just be the most popular type of self-defense ammo in America, a must-have for any 9mm handgun or carbine’s magazine. No one ever wished they had less of this stuff!

This ammo is made for Colt by DoubleTap, a Utah-based manufacturer that specializes in a wide variety of self-defense cartridges. Its jacketed hollow point bullet is loaded to an even 1,200 fps out of a 5” barrel. At that velocity the bullet performs admirably at the FBI test protocol for self-defense: 15” penetration through ballistic gel accompanied by 54 percent expansion. There’s no arguing with those kinds of numbers. This round loses about 50 fps of muzzle velocity when the firearm’s barrel is an inch shorter, but that’s still supersonic stopping power all the same.

DoubleTap’s middleweight 124 grain bullet is loaded with a non-corrosive primer and clean-burning propellant charge, which are carefully matched to provide a consistent muzzle velocity, recoil impulse and point of aim.
