A: Thanks for reaching out Lanky Larry! This cartridge is loaded with a total metal jacket (TMJ) bullet, which has a reflective coating on its base that reflects muzzle flash. The TMJ's terminal ballistics are identical to those of the FMJ. That is to say that the TMJ is incapable of terminal expansion. Although the TMJ is in fact capable of quickly neutralizing a threat, I advise against using it for self-defense. You really want a JHP for personal protection, because terminal expansion (A) inflicts a more injurious wound channel, and (B) reduces (but doesn't eliminate) the risk of over-penetration that could jeopardize an innocent bystander.
