Do you wish you could still purchase Winchester’s Black Talon series ammunition? Good news: their Ranger T-Series ammo features the SXT projectile, which is essentially the exact same thing as the Black Talon minus the black Lubalox coating. These are true law enforcement grade cartridges, but they’re available to the general public!

This 9mm round’s jacketed hollow point weighs in at 147 grains – heavy, and accordingly able to achieve the deep penetration which is requisite for effective self-defense. The JHP’s aggressively notched rim and deep nose cavity enable it to produce six sharp petals throughout penetration, each of which rakes against soft tissue to produce an effectively injurious wound channel. The JHP’s reliable expansion lessens the risk of it passing straight through its target.

These self-defense cartridges’ brass cases aren’t just nickel-plated for the sake of enhanced cosmetics. Nickel wards off corrosion after the ammo is exposed to sweat, humidity and rainfall, and it also smooths out the case to promote more efficient cycling through a semi-automatic handgun or PCC.
