If you are looking for some of the best surplus ammo on the market, look no further than Hirtenberger. These 308 rounds are highly sought after, not just because of their great ability in the chamber but because they packaged these in the 70's to last a lifetime. These rounds come in battle packs of 240 and carry a 146 grain bullet.
This ammo was manufactured in Austria and is considered some of the best in the world. Each round is loaded into a berdan-primed brass casing and propels a lead core bullet that will stick to a magnet. Also, the boxes have the metric designation of "7.62" printed on them due to the bullet diameter but this ammunition should be treated as ammo loaded to 308 Win specs.

This ammo is really good stuff. I have fired a couple hundred rounds through my Browning bolt and M1A with no hiccups at all. This ammo repeats well in both of my guns. I am definitely buying more.

This ammo, like so much of your ammo, is excellent and a very decent price. Your company is speedy, efficient, and it has always been predictably reliable. Keep up the good work!
I'm not sure why Hirtenberger 7.62 NATO ammo continues to be so available. Any shooter with knowledge of the high standards of Austrian made products would snatch this supply up in a hurry.

Have shot 10's of thousands of rounds of this ammo through a very hungry 1919-A4 browning mg and have never had a failure. This is the only ammo I feed this gun.
Have put several hundred rounds through an M-14 with the same results

So I bought this thinking it would work okay just to get used to my new GII Recon, order as usual was delivered promptly and in good shape. At this time the plan was to just use this as a rough ammo to use to get the weapon dialed in. Well what a surprise, weapon is firing dead on with 2 inch groups at 100 yds, and I have only pushed 30 rnds thru it. Cleaning is no big deal, I am the type that enjoys sitting down and cleaning my weapons just for something to do. Good ammo, great price, ordering more after this review. Thank You Lucky Gunner.

The 240 round pack arrived two days after ordering and in great shape. The ammo was packed very well. No shifting during shipment and no damage to the ammunition packaging. The ammunition is clean, looks new, no damage to the case or round, smells musty (I would too being packed for approx. 37 years).
I shot 50 rounds through a Savage Axis bolt .308 I purchased as a spare/back up "shtf" rifle. This ammo is excellent. No misfires or failure to fire of any type. No extraction problems. It is relatively clean and cleaning will be easy.
The mounted scope (3X9X40) was reportedly "dialed in" at the Savage factory as a selling point of this basic inexpensive weapon. After I "doped it", I was getting 4" groups at 500 yards...but those groups were slow in coming. There was a cross wind and gusts. I'm not too good at distances over 300 yards...so I was impressed...it was sort of like "point & shoot".
I will be purchasing more of this Hirtenburger. My thanks to Lucky Gunner for making it available at a reasonable price, and making ammunition purchases as easy and accessible as they do.
Thanks again, Lucky Gunner.

Just ran 50 rds thru a new m1a today with no ftf or fte of any kind. The rds are clean crisp and well packaged for long term storage. Overall service and value are excellent. I will be purchasing more of these rounds in the future.

Great value for the purchase. As always shipping was quick and reasonable, Lucky Gunner is the first place I look when I need ammo.Haven't had the opportunity to test the ammo yet, but it is well packaged, all the boxes are crisp, clean, and free of any damage and all the rounds appear as good as new (these were old-stock surplus).

This ammo is old and smells like it, shot great though. Accuracy was better than new ZQI ammo and cycling through my HK 91 was much better. Shot 240 rounds, no issues

Don't let the date on this stuff fool you. Somethings get better with time. This stuff works fine in PTR 91 GI clone. You're not going to get SUB MOA but you will hit a 3 inch hole all day long with open sights and sand bags. Brass case's are nice package very good for storage. Every bit has good as the old Greek stuff I shoot. Penetrates and hits with authority at decent distance. Get it will you still can.
