A rifle or a shotgun is a lot of firepower to just leave lying around where anyone could find it. It is not an inexpensive item, either. If you would like peace of mind that your weapon will always remain exactly where you put it, Hornady offers exactly that in the form of their RAPiD Safe AR Gunlocker.

This extremely secure foam-lined safe stores up to two tactical-length rifles or shotguns. The entirety of its exterior is made of 16 gauge steel, with four internal locking lugs for added durability. The RAPiD Safe exceeds the standards set by ASTM International for child resistance, pry resistance, and hinge attack resistance. It performs just as well at tests of lock strength, and dropping, picking and sawing can do little to harm it – let alone force it open.

The RAPiD Safe’s pre-drilled mount holes permit installation in horizontal or upright positions. Its 1,500 pound rated security cable offers an additional point of attachment. And at 50 pounds empty, this safe would be a rather inconvenient thing to walk off with even if not secured to a wall or floor.

A great gun safe cannot just keep everyone else out. It must also let its owner in very quickly, and the RAPiD Safe provides options. It comes with five programmable RFID tags that open the spring-assisted lid in an instant. You can alternatively access the safe via its electronic keypad, which you may program with your own four to six digit long code. And if the safe’s AC and backup battery power have both failed, convenient access is still assured with either of the included circular keys.
