reliable shoots dirty by joe on 4/6/2019
Good plinker shoots good in all revolvers and most semis. I clean every time I shoot so l don't care if its dirty.

Dirty to shoot
This is the dirtiest ammo I have ever shot. Other than that it is pretty decent. I am not a lover of gun cleaning and try to shoot clean shooting ammo. So I no longer purchase this stuff. However if one knows it shoots and leaves a lot of residue and don't mind cleaning their weapons when filthy dirty have at it.
too many duds
After shooting more than two bricks of Thunderboldts through a Ruger 10/22, as well as some other rifles and pistols I have decided that I will not purchase this ammo again. I average about 10 percent failure to fire, "duds" in my vocabulary. Usually, but not always, these will fire on the second try. This leads me to believe the problem is how the primer is distributed in the shell.
I do not have this problem with other brands of low priced .22LR ammo such as Federal, CCI and a bit of Winchester.
As for accuracy and lead fouling the Remington Thunderboldt ammo is adequate. My scope and rifle are not match grade. I'm shooting with sand bags as a rest so I cannot attribute inaccuracies to just the ammo but I can get groups of under 1.5 inches at 50 yards. If it were not for the duds I would give this ammo a much different review.
I have shot Remington Thunderbolts for over 30 years with my bolts action Marlin 25 and it has always been a solid, accurate, and reliable round. I have never run it through any semi-autos personally but have givens friends rounds to shoot with no issues from their weapons. Its my goto ammo for .22
my wife had her NRA rifle instructors certification qualification. This was one of two brands we tested for her qualification.
Remington Thunderbolt is excellent, accurate, clean ammo. I will buy it again however there was some match ammo by Browning that we also shot and gave a slightly better result on accuracy for this qualification. Both are excellent products.
Finding ammo these days for a .22 is hard. When I did find ammo in the store it was junk. I use to buy thunderbolts in the 50 round boxes when I was younger and we're very reliable. I switched to winchester but they have gotten expensive. Federal started misfiring and jamming. I was told about Lucky Gunner and found my old faithful Thunderbolts and bought 2 500 round bowes. I have 2 old .22 rifles and 2 new .22 rifles and out of 500 rounds I had 10 rounds that didn't fire. I'm a lifetime customer now.
Great place for ammo
Really got tired of going store to store just to be laugh at and told good luck finding what I was looking for; well lucky gunner has the ammo and great pricing. Sure like all things you get what you paid for...cheap guns like cheap ammo, quality guns like quality ammo.
Thank you for great service and products.
I am very happy with the ammo which I purchased from you. It feels good to be able to go to the range again and just plink away at targets. It's so darn hard to find ammo anymore, and it was nice to be able to purchase it from you. Seeing the smiles on the kids faces at the range as they become our future generations of hunters makes the little extra we have to pay for the ammo a little more tolerable. Thanks again, Dan
Fast Delivery, Ammo As Described, Fair Price
Website was easy to order on, delivery was super quick and product was as described, which is a pleasant occurrence with ammo being so hard to come by. I will deal with Lucky Gunner again.
My favorite source
Tired of paying gun show fees to find cheap ammo because gun stores are overpriced or out of stock.
After receiving my first purchase from Lucky Gunner they quickly became my ammo source.
I ordered from Lucky gunner while out of state on Thursday. Drove home Saturday and the delivery truck pulled in my driveway behind me. Lucky Gunner has the products I want at competitive pricing, and speedy shipping.
Shipped out very fast. Love the service at LuckyGunner. As far as the Thunderbolts go, I guess be happy you can find .22s. They're ok for casual plinking, but just. The quality has gone down over the years. Velocities can be quite inconsistent (and no, I'm not using them for serious target shooting), and the occasional misfires are a bit annoying. Wasn't always like that.
Unfortunately this ammo didn't work well for me
This may not be the same for everyone but unfortunately this ammo didn't work well for me. I saw a couple videos on YouTube that mentioned that the ThunderBolt ammo would run good in a Mossberg 715t but that wasn't the case (for me anyway). For every 25rd magazine I experienced either a stovepipe or misfire. Very dissapointed in how this ammo runs. I've run Federal HP and CCI in my 715t and it runs great with no issues. This ammo turned out to be very dirty which I expected but I didn't expect it to run so terribly. In the end, the price was expensive (then again I can't buy 22lr anywhere locally so that's give or take) and the shipping was about 10 days which I also expected so just a heads up there.
On the bright side, LuckyGunner did ship it out right away and was very courteous during the process and kept me informed with automated e-mails about shipping & tracking so that was good.
Great Price, great service and highly recommended
The service including speed of service was outstanding....everything delivered on schedule as expected and promised. Just a great place to do business......these folks are highly recommended A+++++
My hubby got these for me to use in my 22 rifle. I am new to hunting and target shooting and at 52 I just love it, Its nice to be able to get the ammunition that we need. Keep up the good work Lucky Gunner
The Remington Thunderbolt 22LR ammunition is a quality product that performs well in all of my firearms with zero problems cycling through my semi auto 22 rifle. Accuracy is good with 2 inch grouping from 50 - 75 yards. Would probably group tighter if it weren't for my shaky hands!
The ammo is great for use in all my 22LR guns. I especially remington as it works well in AR-15's. I also like that I can find at least a few boxes when I need them. I always check the website for specials. Luckygunner is great!
Hopefully it's a great product
I haven't tried them yet. But from Remington, what could be bad? I'm putting 5 stars anyway until I know differently. Just stocking up on .22 ammo just in case.
Great site and value. I buy all my ammo from Lucky Gunner.
Best source for ammo om the Web
LG has the best pricing and inventory of ammo on the web. Orders are shipped on time as promised. I will continue to buy all of my bulk ammo from LG because they have it in stock at a lower price than I can buy locally AND I don't have to pay my 10% state sales tax. Now that's a deal.
My second choice
This ammo is great, especially for my m&p 15. For my 541T I prefer Remington Sub sonic, but those have been really tough to find. Great service at Lucky Gunner. Much cheaper than the numerous trips I have made to Dunhams and Gander Mountain only to come home empty handed
Excellent ammo and site.
Fired over 500 rounds thru my SR-22 and Savage 64. Had no FTE or FTF. A bit dirty
but I clean my guns after every firing session. Good price and Lucky Gunner is the
only site that I have found to purchase.
Good quality ammo for the price!
The ammo fired great with very little malfunctions. I fired about 200 rounds through my Ruger 10-22. Oh what fun I had. It was a fun and cheap day at the range.
Thank you LuckyGunner for maintaining a live inventory on your website. I have become totally fed up with the other sites "back order" notice only after you have entered all of your info and completed the purchase. This purchase was quick easy and I appreciate it. Keep it up.
Great for the money
Ammo worked; that's all I needed it to do for target practice. A little dirty, but what 22 ammo isn't? One FTF during the 2 days I used the ammo to test a new pistol and sight in a new scope on my rifle. Very satisfied.
I have a finicky Sig Sauer Mosquito. This is one of the few types of ammo I've used that simply shot every time. No failures to fire or eject, shot about 100 rounds last weekend. Absolutely frustration free. Almost as perfect as Lucky Gunner's customer service
Smoky, Dirty, garbage ammo. After about 150 rounds my barrel was so lead fouled that the rounds were hitting the paper sideways & several inches off the point of aim. It left my guns so dirty that I had to soak the barrels in cleaner overnight to remove all of the deposits. It cycled my Mark III just fine, but jammed often in my 10/22 & 1911-.22lr. I ended up giving the rest of the box away because I refuse to put any more of this trash through my guns. I've done just fine with Remington "Golden Bullets". I don't know why Remington produces such horrible ammo in the "Thunderbolt". they're about the same price point.
Cant go wrong for indoor ranges, plinking, target shooting and or letting the kids shoot all day long without breaking the bank.
Great ammo for the price. You can shoot all day without spending a bunch of cash in these days and times. Its reliable doesn't jam often maybe 5 or 6 jams out of 500 rds with a 10/22 and hot lips 25rnd mag that my kid shoots.
