Magtech is a Brazilian company that's been producing high-quality ammo since the 1920s. Magtech makes a wide variety of ammo for hunting, self-defense, and training applications. And today we're gonna take a look at one of their many 38 special loads, the 158 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter.
With a velocity of just 755 feet per second, this round has super low recoil and has a great plinking load. The bullet is a cast lead semi-wadcutter-- great for target shooting. The case is re-loadable brass with a non-corrosive primer.
We tested this load at the same time as the Magtech Cowboy Action loads. And the recoil is very similar. Both are extremely soft shooting, making rapid shots really easy to pull off. It's also a great load for practicing with light weight carrier revolvers or teaching new shooters who may be a little recoil sensitive.
We shot the semi-wadcutter loads through six different revolvers and didn't have any problems with light strikes or extraction. The lead bullet is specifically designed to leave a clean, round hole in paper targets for better scoring in competition. Coupled with the light recoil, this makes the Magtech semi-wadcutter load ideal for a number of applications. Accuracy was also excellent, which you can see in our quick, 10 shot group that we did from the bench using a Smith & Wesson 686.
Whether it's for competition, target practice, or plinking, Magtech 38 special lead semi-wadcutters are well suited for a number of different tasks at the range.

I like this ammunition and consider it a good choice for carry. I had been buying similar ammo in Winchester brand. This is about the same and a better deal for the bucks. (Posted on 3/27/12)Performance Value Quality
