In order to find out how different self-defense handgun loads perform, we decided to do some ballistics gelatin testing of our own. The chart below is a compilation of expansion and penetration data for G2 Research 62 gr RIP fired from 10 feet, through four layers of fabric (to simulate clothing), using a Glock 42 pistol.
The photo slider provides a close-up view of the bullets we recovered from the gelatin, and the video shows this load entering the gel in extreme slow motion.
The diagrams at the bottom of the page can give you an idea of how this load compares to other .380 Auto (ACP) self-defense loads that we tested.
We did a lot more of this ballistic gelatin testing, including over 100 different loads in a variety of calibers, so check out Lucky Gunner Labs for all the details.

Only shot these into a paper target, but on impact it fragmented into a good looking star.
I know from videos on Uribe, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of the barrel!!

These rounds work ! !
Review by Aviation Ordnance (AO1). (Posted on 1/12/16)
This occurred 12-19-2015. I purchased the G2 ammunition a few months ago from LG.
We were invited to hog hunt on some private land in southern Alabama outside of Smiths Station, Alabama. A friend has elderly parents with close to 1000 acres...all pine trees and a 100 acres or so of planted land...and the feral pigs are doing enormous damage.
Our "crew" consisted of 6 people. All were equipped with various caliber weapons from 9 MM to .308. The majority of weapons were scoped long rifles manned by people who had used them previously in another life in other lands. The day started at 9:00 P.M. in the evening (yes...we had infrared AND night vision). The count of dead pigs was 59 by 3:00 A.M. Total dead pigs by daybreak was 105.
The point: I was...because I had an attack of the dumb@ss by not watching my "hostile environment quotient" was chased up a tree by a boar...barely made it out of his swipe with his "choppers". I removed my .380 from the holster...took aim (I had night vision) and hit the boar mid skull, and then center mass body on the left side, then center spine as it spun around and dropped to the ground.
It was a pig. It happened extremely fast. I cannot tell you what round killed the pig...but all three of these G2 Research rounds were devastating to it physically. internally it was a gooey torn up mess.
God takes care of idiots (me) with ammunition. "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition ! !"
This ammo will make a human predator hesitate...I suggest firing as many as you can into him/her as the shock will slow them down. If you're composed enough to do a head shot....well...game over. Are you that good for a head shot at first? Well...disregard my suggestions of body shots.
Have a good day.
