American Eagle is the flagship product of Federal's premium line of range and training ammunition and has a great reputation for reliability and consistency. All Federal ammo is made here in the US using components all manufactured at the same factory for superior quality control and consistency.
We tested some American Eagle in .40 Smith & Wesson with a 180 grain bullet. The 100 rounds came in a compact box, packaged with all the cartridges stacked in neat rows. The rounds feature a reloadable brass case and full metal jacket bullet with a lead core. Reliability was excellent and we had no failures to feed or function in any of our test pistols. Accuracy was very consistent, with most rounds hitting a couple of inches high at 15 yard from a bench using a SIG P226.
Because of its accuracy, dependability, and reloadable brass cases, I think American Eagle is some of the best practice ammo available. And even though it's part of Federal's premium line, it comes at a pretty good price.
