i absolutely love this .45 ammo! its extremely reliable and it's a 230 grain heavy hitter when it comes to targets let alone self defense, which i have had to resort to unfortunately. i do not use any other ammo in my .45 besides Federal Premium Hydra Shok JHP. very low amount of gunk build up after a firing session at the range also! buy this ammo...you'll love it! also...the +P version of this ammo and the HST +P is also extremely worth the money! If you have a Glock 36, 30 or 21 you may want to go with a 45ACP+P product (Hornady, Corbon, Buffalo Bore)Quality Performance Value
But if you have a 1911 pistol (for example a Kimber, like me) . The 230 gr Hydra Shok JHP - Federal Premium is recommended; and pretty much guaranteed to work 100% of the time
