- Proof Enough For Me Review by Abramztnk

The 230 +P is what I have combat loaded in my Kimber Ultra Carry 1911(3in barrel). While wild hog hunting in Dorchester County, SC, I had the opportunity to harvest a Feral Hog with my 30.06, which was in a group of 6 pigs. When I went down to the kill zone to drag out my pig, one of the group returned to the food source. I drew my Kimber and killed him from about 15 feet with one shot to the head. He never took another breath. Post-mortem of the kill showed massive damage of soft tissue and penetration of about 7 inches (Diagonally from skull to esophagus) and, without weighing the bullet, it seemed to have retained most of it's mass. If it will penetrate a 125lb wild hog's skull, I feel confident it'll perform well against human attackers.Performance Value Quality
(Posted on 12/12/12) - Packs a PUNCH! But Quality seems poor Review by JForce

I decided to put through 20 rounds of Magtech Guardian Gold, +P 230gr JHP; in my HK45ct. I had 7 failures to feed out if 20.. not good! (HK has fed all other hollow tip and +p ammo 100% in past). The hollow-point edges on these Magtech rounds are not perfectly circular have dings on sides of edges and look very rough around edges that would touch the feed ramp. I looked at other boxes of this ammo I received and all look to be the same poor quality. Seems like they have a quality control issue. As of now would not feel confident keeping my mags loaded at home with these rounds (wish I could though, know they have power behind them!)Performance Value Quality
Once I did get the gun in battery boy does this ammo create a BANG! Much more than any other ammo I have fired. It was very accurate. (Posted on 10/29/12) - Great Self-Defense Ammo Review by Wild Bill

I have fired a total of 40 rounds through 2 1911s and both my Kimber Custom Carry and my P10-45. These are very hot rounds and shooting them too frequently would cause more wear than I would like. The price does a nice job of keeping the practice down as these are very expensive. For the money, they are a great self-defense round that never failed to feed or fire and packs a tremendous amount of energy in the .45 ACP platform. My P10-45 tends to be finicky about the ammo it will process, but it LOVED this stuff. Save the regular practice for a less pricey bulk ammo and save this for the (hopefully) very rare opportunity to defend yourself. I noticed a significantly bigger BANG than I've experienced with other ammo. It is also very accurate and reliable. (Posted on 3/4/11)
