Details

Manufactured at the Lake City factory, this mil-spec product is brand new, brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, and re-loadable. It is a staple range and target practice ammunition. This ammo comes loose packed.

This is top of the line, American-made range ammo made by ATK at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (ATK is the same company that makes Speer Lawman, CCI, Blazer Brass, etc) - it doesn't get any better.

Note: This product contains steel in the projectile (this bullet is magnetic) as it is made to military XM80C specifications. Additionally, this brass is manufactured on mil-spec production lines which require evidence of the annealing process be left on the brass near the neck of the casing often referred to as the iris. This is the darker residue that is visually noticeable around the case neck. Both commercial and mil-spec brass undergoes this same annealing process which make the brass stronger and less brittle. The annealing process essentially runs the brass through a series of flames which heat the brass having the affect of re-strengthening it in its final shape. Commercial brass is then re-cleaned after it has been annealed to make it cosmetically more appealing for the commercial market. Military requirements on the other hand place a larger emphasis on the structural integrity of the casing so they require that evidence that the brass has been annealed remain on the brass.

Mike Larsen ( Wed, 06 Nov 2013 14:51:44 +0000 ) : Same as .308 for M1A?
Jason Guhl ( Thu, 21 Nov 2013 18:54:02 +0000 ) : Yes, this works great in an M1A
Dean Graunke ( Thu, 05 Dec 2013 18:54:27 +0000 ) : SA M1A's are chambered 7.62X51. I would be careful running .308 in any other brand.

The price was fantastic and the ammo is very good. Works great in my M1A. No issues. Very fast shipping. Ammo arrived in great shape. It was exactly what I ordered and expected. Not match grade but good military and at an affordable price which is very important these days. I recommend you buy it unless you are looking for high match grade ammo. (Posted on 12/4/13)

Top Quality Ammo At A Very Good Price Review by VNV 1966

One of My Long guns is a Springfield Armory M14/M1a 7.62 X 51 with a nice walnut stock. I carried the Full Auto Version SAW in Vietnam with the pistol grip and bi-pop legs. The M1a is my favorite to shoot out of my long guns. However, it can get expensive to shoot at the range as I don't reload. I am always checking prices and quality of ammo on line.

Lucky Gunner usually has the best deals and quality choice for this type of ammo. I'd rather shoot the NATO version of this ammo but also use the 308 version. My last buy from Lucky Gunner was Lake city NATO 7.62 X 51 in a bulk box of 500 rds. It arrived in a timely manor and was packed very well without any shipping damage at all to the inner box. The Ammo was excellent in performance at the range and I was very happy with my purchase from Lucky Gunner.

Thanks Lucky Gunner (Posted on 11/25/13)

I'm happy with the Federal .308 (7.62x51) ammo, and very happy with Lucky Gunner. LG has the best purchasing and shipping process of any ammo supplier that I've used. Will continue to purchase from LG (Posted on 10/25/13)

Outstanding ammo. Hot 7.62 NATO (not just .308 Win) and accurate. Externally a bit dirty, but the best. It is almost like a sniper ammo when shot through a sub-MOA rifle. Ordered more, a lot more. (Posted on 10/7/13)

I received 502 rounds in a box of 500...GREAT Value! :o)

I'm still a rookie at the range, but I got 13 of 15 rounds within a 2"-wide x 3"-high grouping at 100 yards. I'm quite please with the results. I intend to buy more in the future. (Posted on 10/6/13)

Shoots very well Review by 56Huck

This Federal 308 in bulk shoots very well. At a KD (full distance - to 400 yds) Appleseed last weekend I shot a 225 score with this ammo - the highest score of the weekend, in my M21 (M1A variant). I shoot about 2.5 min 5-shot groups off the bench with this ammo, which isn't as good as the Federal Gold Match ammo (less than 1 minute), but it's a lot less expensive and the accuracy is fine for most of my shooting. I didn't have any mishaps with this ammo - it all fed and shot great. A plus is you get LC brass when your done shooting. I'll be buying more. (Posted on 9/6/13)
