Details

PMC is gaining popularity in the US market and has now come out with their own 5.56x45 penetrator round. This M855 steel core 62 gr FMJ round is manufactured to mil-spec and offers great penetration with the added benefit of being more cost effective than many of the American manufactured rounds.

It is loaded to NATO specs and is NOT intended for use in commercial or bolt-action rifles chambered for 223 Remington ammo - but it is perfect for your AR15! Please check with your gun manufacturer prior to purchasing this ammo (most AR15's are fine, but it is best to check first!).

Each round is brass-cased, boxer-primed, non-corrosive, and reloadable. It is both economical and very reliable.

Mike Zordani ( Thu, 09 Aug 2012 19:42:25 +0000 ) : Great ammo I would buy more but out of stock . Get it when you can .
Matt Murray ( Thu, 09 Aug 2012 19:51:33 +0000 ) : Why are you buying ammo Mike?
Richard Aaron Caudill ( Sat, 23 Mar 2013 23:33:45 +0000 ) : The world today would answer your question Matt.
Anthony Barreto ( Mon, 01 Apr 2013 02:29:11 +0000 ) : One of the seemingly better options... at least it is in stock!
Michael Knippers ( Tue, 09 Apr 2013 11:41:37 +0000 ) : Rediculous the price of ammo. I have plenty and would like more, I have had to slow down on target practice and plinking. But I am not going to pay the prices that are being asked. Just because it is in stock does not mean it is right to price gouge the way ammo manufacturers are doing. If a grocery store upped their prices after a disaster, the owner would go to jail. what is the difference in the world today? What happened was a disaster.
Arkansaw Hillbilly ( Sat, 13 Apr 2013 03:44:42 +0000 ) : You must not be buying much of it for that price or you have a lot of money. There is plenty of ammo but as long as there are enough with lots of money to buy it all up, the prices won't go down. Personally there are those that had plenty before the "scare" hit and they can wait until the surplus hits and these people are then fighting for our business. Thing is, most will NOT do business with those that made them feel like they got cheated at the register.
Robert Streiff ( Mon, 15 Apr 2013 03:28:28 +0000 ) : Thank that P.O.S Dictator Obama, stupid damn liberals! None of this would be going on if that Monkey was not in office!
David Holt ( Sun, 28 Apr 2013 16:11:57 +0000 ) : Dicks has had this same ammo here locally in NC for .50 per round
David Holt ( Sun, 28 Apr 2013 16:13:08 +0000 ) : For the past two weeks
Dave Whitaker ( Wed, 01 May 2013 05:50:32 +0000 ) : Robert Streiff hey...don't insult the monkeys. :-)
Eric Nelson ( Sun, 19 May 2013 04:56:44 +0000 ) : While I do love LG and the fast shipping, I've found ammo for $120 less, per 1000 rds. I'll still shop here from time to time, but I'm moving on. Thank You for the great service, though. Much appreciated.
Matthew Adams ( Thu, 23 May 2013 06:58:18 +0000 ) : they state new but the pictures look like they are reloads to me.
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Thu, 23 May 2013 12:57:37 +0000 ) : Hey Matthew, These PMC loads are new. We don't sell anything made by PMC that is reloaded. In fact, PMC doesn't sell reloads at all to the best of our knowledge. Thanks for looking and take care.
Francisco Nava ( Thu, 30 May 2013 16:12:53 +0000 ) : are thease rounds magnetic?
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Thu, 30 May 2013 17:53:22 +0000 ) : Hey Francisco, Thank you, good question! This X-Tac does have a steel core and is magnetic like most M855 projectiles. For a non-magnetic round, I'd recommend the X-Tac loaded with M193 projectiles: http://www.luckygunner.com/5-56x45-55-gr-fmj-xp193-pmc-1000-rounds
Siva Guru ( Mon, 10 Jun 2013 16:28:18 +0000 ) : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=281478758654816 <3 Great i found a free 500 criminal case cash! <3
Rick West ( Wed, 12 Jun 2013 18:04:31 +0000 ) : They are NOT magnetic. They do have a steel core for penetration of such things as walls, steel plates, ect., ect... I need about 4000 rds. of this. I am a U.S. Marine that still loves to shoot. Since my injury, money for me and my family is real tight. So I am still waiting for a better price drop so I can restock my ammo so the family and I can go shooting again. If anyone can help me find this ammo at a price I can afford, Please e-mail me @ whttiger1@gmail.com. Thank you so much and thank you Lucky Gunner for getting ammo back in stock at least. LOL....
Matt Stone ( Mon, 01 Jul 2013 21:22:06 +0000 ) : gougers
David Knill ( Wed, 03 Jul 2013 12:49:43 +0000 ) : The reason the rounds look like reloads is because the ammo is annealed around the case necks to prevent splitting/cracking. It will be visible on nearly all military brass, as they don't give a damn if their ammo is pretty or not. Say hi to Ricky and Julian for me.
Knol Atwood ( Sun, 14 Jul 2013 01:28:18 +0000 ) : $460.00 at the gun show today! 2 cases @ $230 each, no tax, no shipping!
Nicholas Puma ( Wed, 24 Jul 2013 01:18:36 +0000 ) : Great ammo
Eric Korotki ( Thu, 25 Jul 2013 14:52:36 +0000 ) : $509/1000 of PMC X-TAC 62 gr is not a special price, it is price gouging at its best. I know the market is setting this price but we will remember these gouging prices when the market returns to normal prices. For a company that deals in mostly ammo you seem to be setting yourself up to lose a lot of business once the price of ammo comes back down because your average customer base is offended by these prices.
Doug Black ( Thu, 15 Aug 2013 14:48:18 +0000 ) : Matt Murray Matt, why would you ask that question? Seems odd.
Bill Bolander ( Mon, 19 Aug 2013 23:25:30 +0000 ) : The club I am about to join does not allow armour piercing ammo. Are penetrator rounds considered armour piercing?
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Tue, 20 Aug 2013 12:23:52 +0000 ) : Hey Bill, Thanks for the note and good question- PMC X-Tac rounds are not considered armor piercing rounds but they do have a steel core. That means they will attract a magnet. Many ranges have rules about rounds that will attract magnets so you may want to check with your new range to make sure that's not what they mean. If you have any other questions, please don't be shy - we'd love to try to help!
Jim Williams ( Thu, 22 Aug 2013 16:25:27 +0000 ) : Just curious where is this 5.56 Nato Round made?
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Sun, 25 Aug 2013 16:43:18 +0000 ) : Hey Jim, Thanks for the note Jim. This PMC ammunition is made in South Korea. PMC is the manufacturer that the South Korean military relies on and is generally regarded as good, quality ammo.
Frankie Del Monte ( Tue, 27 Aug 2013 23:06:46 +0000 ) : do you ship to ca? is yhere s limit on how much i can order?
Geddy Ecv Kendrick ( Tue, 27 Aug 2013 23:28:45 +0000 ) : just put your zip on the side there.. but yes they do ship to ca
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Wed, 28 Aug 2013 12:40:13 +0000 ) : Hey Frank, Geddy is correct. We do ship to California. In terms of how much - it depends on the product.
Brandon Arriel ( Thu, 29 Aug 2013 21:21:20 +0000 ) : Lucky Gunner Ammo What Lucky Gunner Ammo said is pretty much spot on. Just to elaborate a bit more, though, they do not have a FULL steel core. They have a small conical section at the front that is made out of steel, but the rest is lead. Here are some images to let you kind of see the guts of it: http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv360/wolfganggross/group%20cutaways%201/IMG_0996.jpg From left to right: Israel, IMI/ 09, no tip color Bosnia & Hertz, */223, black tip M855, Lake City, LC/08, Green tip Tungsten Molly coated M855? Watch what you by on line! Here is a clear-ish picture of the conical steel penetrator I mentioned: http://mcb-homis.com/blog/m855.jpg Hope this helps explain it just a little further. Sorry it is a bit late.
Omar Cosme Jimenez ( Sat, 31 Aug 2013 00:27:05 +0000 ) : Do you ship to PR?
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Sat, 31 Aug 2013 13:41:24 +0000 ) : Hey Omar, I'm sorry, we don't ship to Puerto Rico. Shipping ammo via air is really tough because of regulations and pretty expensive. I'm sorry, I wish we had a better way to get ammo to shooters down in Puerto Rico but at this point, it's pretty tough with what shipping would cost. Thank you for taking the time to ask and check us out!
Randy M. Griffin ( Wed, 04 Sep 2013 04:47:14 +0000 ) : I am shooting a sig sauer m400 with 1-7 twist...I really need the 62 grain or higher for better accuracy with the twist of my barrel don't I...
Anthony Hebert ( Mon, 16 Sep 2013 18:52:53 +0000 ) : Good, clean rounds! I was happy with their performance. Fired out of my Colt M4, and it cycled fine. I would purchase again!
Keith Bokelund ( Wed, 18 Sep 2013 20:05:28 +0000 ) : Yes they do!!!
David R Greene ( Mon, 04 Nov 2013 23:25:04 +0000 ) : What is the purpose of the metal core if not for armor piercing? Thank you.
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Tue, 05 Nov 2013 22:09:32 +0000 ) : Brandon Arriel Thanks for the extra info!
Lucky Gunner Ammo ( Tue, 05 Nov 2013 22:11:34 +0000 ) : Hey David, Good question. While these rounds have a steel-tipped core, they don't have a full steel core. In other words, they are designed to penetrate into a target farther than other 5.56 rounds but they aren't full steel or armor piercing. Hopefully that helps, if not please feel free to follow up! Thanks for checking out the site!
Frank Brenes ( Fri, 06 Dec 2013 07:45:48 +0000 ) : Brandon Arriel i too am haivng problems finding good rounds that are allowed at my range. I need lead core rounds are the independence Isreali ones lead core? Also the PMC? I can't have steel tip or steel core ... please help'
Brandon Arriel ( Fri, 06 Dec 2013 07:49:34 +0000 ) : Frank Brenes Anything that is marked XM193(or M193) will just be a standard lead core. Russian ammo(Wolf/Tula/Barnaul) is typically lead core, but contains a high steel content in the jacket that will stick to a magnet. (to answer your question in a short way, the PMC M193 are lead core, and the regular PMC Bronze should be lead core with just a copper jacket as well) Give me 10 minutes or so and I will compile a list of all of the products in the .223/5.56 lineup on here that are lead core.

The ones below SHOULD BE safe, but I can't say 100%. http://www.luckygunner.com/5-56x45-62-gr-sp-rxm556t3-federal-20-rounds (should be, but VERY expensive for range/plinking ammo) http://www.luckygunner.com/223-rem-55-gr-fmj-wolf-gold-g22355fmj-20-rounds (should be all lead with just a copper jacket since they are non-magnetic)

Q: May be a dumb question but since these are steel core are they entirely lead free ammo? I live in CA and so I need to stock up on lead free for all my guns.

Posted On: 2/28/14 By: N. Shipley

A: Hello, These M855 rounds do have a lead core with steel in the tip, so they are not lead free.
Q: David R Greene What is the purpose of the metal core if not for armor piercing? Thank you.

Posted On: 11/4/13 By: David Greene

A: The steel in the projectile is not a solid steel projectile - it's just a steel tipped core. Basically, that allows these rounds to penetrate well but they don't have the same strength as an armor piercing round would.
Q: If a weapon is marked 5.56/223 is it safe to use either round?

Posted On: 7/21/13 By: Bill

A: Yes. The marking on your rifle shows that either round will be safely accepted in the chamber of the rifle. While both the 5.56 NATO round and the .223 Rem will appear to be identical, the 5.56 NATO round will be loaded to a higher pressure. The lower pressure .223 Rem round is still powerful enough to ensure proper function. It should be noted that any weapon marked with .223 only, should not have 5.56 ammunition fed into the chamber. PMC also offers a .223 Round which is a great choice for indoor ranges that may prohibit ammunition that will stick to a magnet. Other xm193 rounds will work for indoor range needs.

Just bought a new Daniel Defense DDM4 and put several ammo types through it to see how it liked 'em. It ate up everything I put through it, without a hiccup including the PMC M855. For the price, you can't beat it, so I just bought another 1000 rounds. (Posted on 4/13/14)

What a difference two weeks makes. I ordered this ammo with about 20-25 minutes left to spare in order to have it shipped the same day. EXACTLY 48 hours after I submitted my order, I had 1000 rounds in hand. The kicker is that two weeks later, the same ammo had increased in price. SO glad I didn't wait any longer... I bought this Ammo because it had such good reviews and was comparable to the much more expensive Federal version of this round that I am used to. I fired off 200 rounds so far and am quite disappointed. In my Stag Arms AR-15 it functions fine as far as the bullet leaves the barrel and ejects. No FTE No FTF. However Accuracy was non existent at 300 yards not a single hit. at 200 Yards only about 50% hits. With Federal rounds in the same Rifle I was hitting 100% from 300 yards. Also this round is very dirty Barrel Bolt action all full of crud and spent all night cleaning after a day of shooting. With the Federal round cleaning was just a formality as there was hardly any residue at all anywhere. I'm sure I can re zero with this round and get a little more accuracy but a dirty round is a dirty round and I can't believe I have not seen this in any reviews. Bottom line is it's a good cheap round for fun shooting where missing your target is no big deal and if you enjoy spending hours of cleaning time. Not a good round if your life depends on it. I have been shooting this stuff and the 55 grain fmj x-tacs for a few years now. Annealed cases are great for reloading. I know its not american made but who really cares about that. Its made the same way. I will continue to buy whoever makes mil spec ammo the cheapest regardless the country. I shot over 5000 rounds so far and no hick ups. The accuracy is what you expect for mil spec stuff. Not match quality but pmc does make match grade ammo also. (Posted on 1/4/14)

Fired 210 rds without a cleaning. Have not had a malfunction or stoppage, so far! Cycle of operation functions great with this ammo! Have purchased this ammo in the past for my wife's Bushmaster and it has always performed great. She uses this stuff for punching holes mainly. Also, she took a training-course where they needed 400 rounds or so, and it performed great for it's purpose.
This particular purchase was for my son who has a Noveske rifle. When we went to the range, it worked flawlessly for him. He's much more patient than I am, and can group much better. According to him it's not match ammo, but is consistent compared to some of the other manufacturers.
Will purchased again when needed. LuckyGunner is the first place I look for ammo. (Posted on 12/10/13)

Hi all, been using pmc x-tac green tips since 2007 for training at home and at blackwater in moyock n.c. I have an bushmaster m-4 with 1-7 twist 14.5 in military barrel on it,i also have a 11.5 in c.q.b. barrel as well. I have put over the years about 6000 rds though my guns and i have never had a miss fire due to the x-tac ammo, it always fire and was good and clean ammo. If i can get pmc i will always take it over other brands. Now just wish it was cheaper. (Posted on 11/23/13)

Hmmm well I found the ammo to be very sufficient in power and accuracy I chewed up a target at fifty yards with my little AR-15 the recoil and the volume of the round when fired reminded me of when I was in basic training ad was useing the M-16A1. But needless to say my wife had a blast as well, I will deffinetly be ordering some more of this as soon as I can get around to it. (Posted on 10/15/13)

The rounds fire very well, no cycling issues with the rounds (though that is affected just as much a weapon performance as it is an ammo quality, since i've not had issues with other rounds so, we can safely assume that the rounds are tip-top).

Didn't realize they were anealed, which is ok with me, don't care what they look like as long as they preform, and they have done just that, pretty accurate, and I like the way they where packaged. I assumed (my fault) they would have been loose, and were packaged in indiviual 20 count boxes.

Will be purchaseing more soon.

I would have a better chance of striking oil in my backyard than finding 5.56 in my area. Lucky Gunner always has it when I need it and their customer service and shipping speed is 2nd to none!

I am a former Infantry Marine (0311) and PMC 5.56 is extremely reliable and very accurate out of my Stag Arms AR15. I am VERY happy with it and will continue to use it.

To sum it all up....Lucky Gunner is like an adult Disneyland for ammo! Keep up the great work LG! (Posted on 9/9/13)

I did a comparison and these were more consistent, I chew out golf ball size holes at 100 meters and the price is right, I know where they are made and I have no problem with it. Lucky gunner was there for me when I was worried about supply. They are now my preferred supplier, I fire 6-7 k per year. Always looking for that perfect shot. (Posted on 8/19/13)

I've purchased more expensive 5.56 ammo in the past like the Federal and American Eagle steel core, and got good results, but these X-Tac rounds look much better when you take them out of the box. The bullet tips are very sharp, not sloppily rounded off like the Federal. These rounds actually look sexy to me. Haven't had any failure to feed issues with the others, but these PMC's have to feed better by the look of the tips. I've shot a lot of Lake City with great accuracy results, and didn't think anybody else could match that... I was wrong. These PMC rounds look great, shoot great, and come at a pretty decent price for what's going on with our ammo shortage lately. I will definitely buy more when my credit card balance shrinks a little. Great service and great ammo Review by Elton

First, Lucky Gunner has been a great provider of ammo to me. Even when no one had this particular brand for months, Lucky Gunner had it intermittently throughout the shortages. (Although, I waited for the price to drop before purchasing.)
Like others have mentioned, I've never had a round fail to fire, feed, or eject in either of my rifles. Groupings are as consistent as I can get 'em down range these days. In all, I've put roughly 2,000 rounds of this particular brand through one of my rifles, and a close to 6,000 rounds of a mixture of this 62gr and the PMC 55gr through the other. Again, I've never had any problems using the PMC brand in my firearms, as well.
Once again, a big "Thank You" to Lucky Gunner for their service. It's hard to find a supplier that has such great shipping times. And, as expected... I'll find something else to purchase from them in the near future. (Posted on 8/15/13)

LG had these to me in 2 days! (Central Iowa) anyway this ammo seems to work well in my Controlled Chaos Arms LMT AR 15 16’’ 1/7 twist barrel. I sighted in at 50 yards with iron sights and all my shots grouped pretty well. I’m sure with an optic I could tighten them up even more. I do not reload at this time but I hear the brass is good quality so I have been keeping all brass. No jams, FTF, FTE’s or hand fires to date!

Only con is price and we all know that is due to the recent demand and I hope it will blow over soon. (Posted on 7/1/13)

This stuff worked great for me. Extremely accurate in my AR with 1/7 twist barrel. Great mil spec def round. I'm used to getting these rounds at a cheaper price though. However if you need good rounds and you have the money this is a great choice. One thing to note is that I went to an indoor range with these once and they classified them as armor piercing rounds and wouldn't let me fire them there. (Posted on 5/30/13)

I had good luck with PMC 223 rounds in the 1980's, and they still perform well. Satisfied with awesome two day delivery from LuckyGunner. (Ordered 1000 Rds last Weds AM, received last Friday afternoon) GREAT SERVICE!!! I will be back!. Thanks!!!! (Posted on 4/26/13)
