Note: Remington's bullet type designation "metal case" is essentially the equivalent of full metal jacket.
Video Transcript:
This big guy here is a 250 round megapack of UMC ammo from Remington. You've probably seen these big yellow boxes before. Or maybe you've seen the smaller, 50 round boxes. In either case, the UMC line dates back to the mid 1800s with the Union Metallic Cartridge Company. You may not have heard of them. But UMC was a heavy hitter back in the 19th century. Among other things, they invented the modern metallic center fire cartridge and totally revolutionized the ammo industry. They merged with Remington in 1912 to become what was then called Remington UMC. Eventually, the UMC was dropped from the company name. But Remington generously honored their former glory by using their initials for their value priced practice ammo. Well, despite the halfhearted homage, UMC is now some of the most popular range ammo in the country. If you shoot a lot of 45, this 250 round megapack is an awesome value. The box contains a stack of five 50 round trays with a cardboard pull tab for easy access. The reloadable brass case features a non-corrosive primer. This 45 ACP load has the traditional 230 grain bullet with a lead core and a copper full metal jacket. Remington calls this a metal case. But it's the same as the FMJ that you're used to. UMC ammo is popular for a good reason. It's affordable and still works in just about gun. We fired through a 250 round box using our six 45 caliber test guns. We didn't have a single malfunction. And each gun fed and ejected the UMC cartridges with no problems. Like most UMC ammo, the recoil was moderate and typical for a practice load. After a long day of testing ammo, we set up the sandbags and tried out the UMC load from the bench at 15 yards. Our Springfield XDM pistol was accurate as always. But shooter fatigue caused a couple of shots to be thrown off center. Even so, we ended up with a decent 10 shot group. And experience has shown us that the UMC ammo is more than capable of 1 inch groups at this distance. Remington's UMC line is always a dependable choice for any range application. And these 250 round megapacks are an incredible value for American made brass cased loads.

I've shot about 2000 of these rounds. Not a single dud. I use it at the range on my Kriss .45 carbine (which can be picky about what ammo it likes) and a .45 HK USP. Never an issue. Perfect customer service from LuckyGunner. Thank you. (Posted on 6/4/12)Quality Performance Value - good buy Review by leroy

As a police officer, I am on the range monthly to maintain my proficiency with my service weapon. My department provides 50 rounds a quarter. I supplemented my ammo with purchases from private vendors such as the 'big-box' retails, Wal-mart and Bass Pro. Found Luckgunner using a Google web seach for my ammo. Quick service, 3-days, and 20% less than the retailers in my area. All ammo is as expected. Will use Luckygunner again! first ammo I've fired through my Colt New Agent. Have shot two boxes of this ammo with no issues except for possible cleanliness. However, since I have no reference point (first 45 ammo I've purchased), I can't say for sure. Will try another brand to establish but I recommend this ammo for sure. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry that I'm breaking in. I was getting FTEs on just about every mag..sometimes multple per mag (wilson combat mags). Thought I was going to have to send the gun back for work. Turns out after I hit the magical 500 round break-in, I decided to run my Ranger Ts through it. Ate 50 without a single FTE..this after I couldn't get through 7 rounds with the UMC. I have a Sig .40, which eats this stuff up with no problems, so perhaps my Kimber prefers caviar. I still have another full box to burn through my Kimber. I'll update this review if anything changes. (Posted on 4/28/10)Performance Value Quality
