A lot of folks favor the XTP for its accuracy alone. This is due to the bullet’s uniformly balanced swaged lead core, concentric jacket (which fully shields the core’s base), and copper-jacketed rim, which readily feeds in a semi-automatic firearm.
The XTP’s jacketed rim serves yet another purpose if the bullet strikes flesh. It prevents deformation until the correct time for terminal expansion to initiate, therefore promoting more reliable terminal ballistics. And because the XTP’s jacket is tapered – thick around the base, and thinner around the rim – as well as notched, it yields wider expansion at lower velocities.
American Gunner series ammo hails from the same Nebraska factory as all of Hornady’s other fine products. It features quality brass, primers and powder that ought to do justice to any 10mm pistol or PCC.
