This 12 Gauge shotshell by Sellier & Bellot is as fit for deer and coyote hunting as it is home defense. That’s because it is loaded with 1 1/4 ounces of #4 buck, 0.24” lead balls that are not quite as powerful as 00 buck but still massively deadly at close range. #4 buck’s smaller size simply means more pellets fit in a shotshell, which gives you a denser spread at close range. Smaller shot additionally presents a significantly lower chance of penetrating a wall if you’re defending your homestead.

This shell delivers a 1,181 fps muzzle velocity, fast enough to give one single pellet of #4 buck a muzzle energy of 64 ft lbs. Multiply that effect by 27, the number of shot pellets this shell has, and you’ll appreciate just how much power it offers. Sellier & Bellot’s felt wad helps to keep their hard, round lead shot closer together out of the muzzle, and their non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant reduce the need for maintenance out in the field.

Sellier & Bellot sits on 370 acres of land in Vlašim, Czech Republic, where they turn out three million rounds of ammunition every day. With nearly two centuries in business they are currently the world’s oldest continually operational ammunition manufacturer.
