Will Federal’s Gold Medal line of ammunition actually win you a gold medal? Not on its own, it won’t. You’ll at the very least need a shotgun as well, but without 12 Gauge ammo like this you’re certainly not going to get very far!

This shotshell is loaded with 1-1/8 ounces of #9 shot. That’s very small shot at 0.08” in diameter, and is pretty much exclusively reserved for skeet, trap, and sporting clays. We see no reason why you couldn’t hunt with this ammo, but your options are going to be fairly limited to the smallest birds and maybe yard pests.

Federal makes high quality lead shot. The lead itself is hardened to the point where heavy pressure can’t deform it, so it keeps the round shape that’s so crucial to a tight, accurate pattern. They also thoroughly screen their shot – literally, by passing it through a metal screen – to ensure its uniform size.

The old Minnesotan ammo authority also gives each shell in this box of 25 their own signature 209A primer, a reliable little explosive charge that lights up to a consistent temperature.
