This is a long shell at 3”, which is why it has the capacity for both 1-1/4 ounces of #2 steel shot and the powder it needs to launch that payload to a muzzle velocity of 1,450 fps. Its higher velocity helps this shell to make up for nontoxic steel’s relatively lower 8 g/cc density, so you’ll still have the range and punch it takes to reach out and touch ducks. #2 shot is great for pass shooting, and it’s also great for decoy hunting (make your own decoys out of reeds for bonus points). Federal’s steel shot pellets exhibit the virtually perfect sphericity which tight downrange patterns don’t come to fruition without!
