Federal loads this Black Cloud FS Steel shell to do one thing and one thing only: bag ducks. And the 12 Gauge shotshell has a lot of tricks up its sleeve for that very purpose!

Right off the bat, this is a big shotshell. At 3-1/2” long it’s able to contain a massive 1-1/2 ounces of shot. The shell’s ample propellant charge catapults that large shot column to a muzzle velocity of 1,500 fps, which gives even low-density nontoxic steel shot the momentum it needs to beeline directly to your duck of choice.

This shell’s #4 shot is special, too. Forty percent of the shot column is comprised of Federal’s FliteStopper pellets, which have raised ridges surrounding their middles. These sharp edges help the shot pellets to penetrate deeply and deal otherwise more injurious wound channels. The remaining shot is Federal’s usual yet still high-quality Premium steel.

This shell patterns extra efficiently thanks to the power of the FliteControl Flex wad. Its base erects multiple petals upon expulsion from the muzzle, which act as air brakes to ensure clean in-flight separation from the shot column. This ammo is specifically designed for wetlands conditions, as its plated head resists corrosion, its sealed crimp wards off water infiltration, and its powder is formulated to combust reliably over a broad range of temperatures.
