This new revision of Federal's old Black Cloud brand offers improved patterning at distance as well as less residue left behind in shotguns. Each 12 gauge shell is constructed using a lead-free primer which is installed into a black nickel-plated head that resists corrosion from moisture; the primers clean ignition helps barrels clear and actions working smoothly. The head houses a very long 3-1/2 inch hull which allows for a potent powder charge and heavy shot load for taking down ducks and geese at long range.
The shot load comprises 1-1/2 ounces of #2 steel shot which is legal for use in WMAs where lead shot is prohibited. 40% of the pellets come from Federal's Flitestopper design which incorporates an edged belt that is intended to do greater damage to birds and bring them down humanely. The shot pellets reside the Flitecontrol Flex wad which interfaces well with ported chokes and exits the muzzle while containing the shot before braking to the rear after a few feet of travel; this guarantees dense patterns for remarkable terminal effect and improved precision.
