This 12 Gauge shotshell is loaded with nontoxic shot, so you can legally hunt with it around waterways and other protected lands. But it’s not loaded with steel! It is loaded with bismuth, a nonmagnetic metal which boasts a density of 9.6 g/cc. It’s much denser than steel – nearly as dense as traditional lead, in fact – and it’s also more affordable than tungsten!

This 3” shell’s 1-3/8 ounces of heavyweight #4 shot pellets are perfect for pass shooting or taking ducks over decoys, as well as hunting turkey and other larger upland birds. And because bismuth is also softer than other non-toxic metals, this shot’s not poised to do any damage to an antique shotgun.

Federal outfits this general purpose waterfowl and upland game shell with their FliteControl Flex wad. It deploys multiple brake fins upon exiting the muzzle, which alongside its side-mounted vents promotes immediate and even separation from the shot column. With the right choke, this shell’s going to pattern with absolute precision. The Minnesotan company’s high-performance primer makes sure you hear “boom” and not “click” whenever game is afoot!
