In all honesty, you should love this ammo just fine if your only priority is accuracy. The 62 grain ELD-VT offers all the advantages of a lightweight low-drag boat tail match projectile, and also features Hornady’s über-concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket and deformation-proof Heat Shield polymer tip. If your rifle has a 24” barrel and 1.5” high sights, then the 0.395 G1/0.199 G7 BC projectile should only drop -5.6” 100 yards downrange of a 200-yard zero. If that’s not a flat trajectory, then we must not know the meaning of the word “flat.”
You will love this ammo even better if you’re trying to unzip small game, though. The ELD-VT’s polymer tip is nestled on the rim of its jacket just above a large air gap. When impact forces the tip into the core, the surrounding jacket essentially explodes. The ELD-VT reliably fragments at lower velocities, so you can really avail yourself of the 22 ARC’s generous effective range.
