The 220 Swift may not be as popular as some of the other hunting cartridges introduced by Winchester, but those who know how to wield it become the reapers of varmints. My own grandfather estimated that he snuffed out over 2,000 woodchucks with his 220 Swift, and he preferred Hornady’s bullets for the job. How’s that for an endorsement?

This round features Hornady’s world famous V-MAX – a bullet engineered specifically for varmints. The 55 grain bullet’s intensely streamlined profile, match grade AMP jacket and flat base all make it inherently accurate. This round’s 3,680 fps muzzle velocity is well over three times faster than the speed of sound, which cooks a V-MAX until it exhibits a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.255. That’s all you need to witness the 220 Swift’s legendary accuracy in action.

The V-MAX goes out the same way it takes flight: with a bang. Its polymer tip drives down to the base of its swaged lead core’s precision-formed shaft on impact, so it builds up a lot of energy before totally upsetting the core and jacket. This results in dramatic fragmentation. Your quarry will go to the same place that my grandpa’s 2,000+ woodchucks wound up.

Hornady outfits their Varmint Express cartridges with their best brass to ensure reliable feeding, consistent ballistic performance, and durability under maximum chamber pressures. Each round’s propellant and primer are carefully loaded and inspected to live up to Joyce Hornady’s famous motto: “Ten bullets through one hole."
