Did you think this is just a bucket? Wrong again, Johnny boy! It is a bucket of Remington’s UMC label 223 Rem ammunition; specially branded “Don’t Tread on Me” UMC, specifically, in honor of our country’s 250th.
This round’s bullet is light. It gains a high muzzle velocity and highly flat trajectory because of it. And as a jacketed hollow point, it’s real effective at putting the smackdown on varmints and predators. It is great for any kind of target shooting, too, so long as you keep in mind that a 1:14” or 1:16” rate of twist is ideal for so light a bullet (although 1:9”, 1:10”, or 1:12” is also acceptable).
This round’s bullet is, as previously mentioned, light. Its susceptibility to wind deflection suffers for it, and its G1 ballistic coefficient is accordingly low for its caliber. A G1 BC of 0.173 won’t hold you back if you’re shooting within ~400 yards while target shooting (or ~200 yards while varmint hunting), though. Here’s what its ballistic performance looks like when it’s a bunch of numbers:
