Fifty-five grain bullet? Not here. This round’s forty-five grain bullet is a pipsqueak compared to a standard target load’s, but that weight reduction comes with a massive advantage: a seriously flat trajectory, which makes ranging and aiming over longer distances a tad easier. Here’s just the kind of ballistic performance you can reasonably expect of the 0.173 G1 BC bullet:
0yds: 3,550 fps | 1,259 ft lbs | -1.5”
50yds: 3,240 fps | 1,049 ft lbs | -0.1”
100yds: 2,953 fps | 872 ft lbs | 0.5”
150yds: 2,684 fps | 720 ft lbs | 0.0”
200yds: 2,431 fps | 591 ft lbs | -1.7”
250yds: 2,191 fps | 480 ft lbs | -4.8”
300yds: 1,965 fps | 386 ft lbs | -9.7”
The JHP ends its straight trip in self-destruction. Close-range impact mushrooms and fragments the bullet, maximizing its lethality and reducing the potential for an exit wound (a plus if you’re on a quest for fur).
This ammo’s steel-free bullets are compliant with many ranges’ nonmagnetic-only ammo requirements, and its cases are worth any effort you’d put into handloading them. The only real issue we have with the ammo in our warehouse is that it’s not in your house yet.
