MAXXTech ammunition is somewhat newer to the American market. The brand belongs to Pobjeda Technology, an Eastern European ISO 9001 certified manufacturer that has been in business for 60 years. But Pobjeda also imports Russian-made ammunition to America under their Essential Steel label, and it’s equivalent in quality to Tula’s steel-cased ammo.

This 223 Rem ammo is the economical solution for all-day target shooting with an AR-15 rifle. The secret to the ammo’s low price tag is right there in its name. Each round’s 56 grain bullet has a lead core and a bimetal jacket, which is mostly made out of steel with a thin copper wash coating on the exterior. An Essential Steel FMJ offers consistent, target grade accuracy – and it will also attract a magnet.

This ammo has steel cases as well. They’re outfitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers, although steel’s inelasticity means these rounds’ cases will let more carbon fouling into your rifle’s action. It also means they’re non-reloadable, so this 223's a one-and-done kind of deal!
