This .223 Remington ammunition makes an ideal round for hunting small to midsize game such as raccoons, coyotes, and (where legal) deer. Each cartridge in this 500 round case fires a 62 grain soft point bullet at 3,050 feet per second, with ballistics somewhat similar to M855 ball used by the US military. It can be used in both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO rifles including AR-15s.

Soft point bullets are a popular choice for hunting due to their ability to expand and kill an animal quickly and cleanly. Unlike many hollow points, they exhibit low fragmentation and are less likely to heavily damage trophies, fur, or meat. To achieve proper expansion, they must be fired at a high muzzle velocity usually possible only in rifle-caliber rounds such as the .223 Remington/5.56 NATO.

These cartridges are made in Russia at the Barnaul Machine Plant. Though costs significantly less than most brass-cased ammo, Golden Bear is their higher-end ammunition line and uses non-reloadable brass-plated zinc cases and non-corrosive Berdan primers. Many shooters prefer Golden Bear to other Russian steel-cased ammo due to its cleaner firing, which reduces fouling and makes maintenance easier.
