This round’s 162 grain bullet is match accurate. Its polymer tip is the Heat Shield, which weathers intense aerodynamic heating without forfeiting its sleek and perfectly pointed profile. The Heat Shield is backed by Hornady’s outstandingly concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, as well as a boat tail that is optimized for the bullet’s weight, length and caliber.

It all pays off. According to Hornady, this round’s 2,850 fps muzzle velocity (24” barrel) yields a 0.631 G1 (0.318 G7) ballistic coefficient: -6.9” drop at 300 yards after clearing a 200-yard zero (1.5” sight height). The great P.O. Ackley himself would approve of those stats!

The ELD-X is deadly following close- and long-range impact alike. Within 400 yards, its thick jacket shank and InterLock ring effectively retain no less than 50% of the bullet’s total weight. Outside of 400 yards, the ELD-X couples a wide-diameter mushroom with no less than 85% weight retention.
