That gives it a subsonic muzzle velocity (i.e. less than 1,125 feet per second), which gives it a noticeably quieter report as a result. If your gunsmith confirmed that your Marlin can handle modern commercial ammo, then this particular ammo ought to be just fine. It's weaker than most any other hunting load you could choose, and therefore certain to place a lot less stress on the rifle. It's like asking an Olympic bodybuilder to lift 25 pound dumbbells.
