This cartridge features Hornady’s 175 grain Sub-X, a hunting bullet designed specifically for subsonic hunting. The Sub-X’s nose cavity is outfitted with Hornady’s own Flex Tip, a column of supple polymer that rams inward during penetration to promote reliable expansion at low velocities. The Flex Tip is poised over a deep hollow within the Sub-X’s lead core, enabling it to build up tremendous energy before coming into contact with its base. The Sub-X holds together during terminal penetration thanks to its Inter-Lock ring which mechanically locks its jacket and core together.

The Sub-X doesn’t need tremendous speed to maintain its accurate trajectory. The bullet showcases Hornady’s characteristically concentric jacket, as well as a boat tail that helps to preserve more velocity downrange as well as immunize the bullet against wind drift significantly.
