The 300 AAC Blackout usually isn’t the first thing to come to mind when you think of deer hunting ammo – but Federal’s Fusion Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR) line of ammo going to change your preconceptions.

This cartridge is loaded with a bonded soft point. Its dense alloyed lead core was electrochemically fused to its copper jacket one atom at a time. The result is a bullet with essentially perfect rotational stability. At 150 grains and loaded to a muzzle velocity of 1,900 fps, this round’s bonded soft point retains at least 1,000 ft lbs of energy until it reaches 77 yards.

Fusion ammo is specifically marketed to deer hunters, although this round’s accuracy also suits it well for varmint hunting. And because the bonded soft point exhibits such awesome weight retention and resultant deep penetration, it is also able to create a wide, debilitating wound channel inside hogs and home intruders alike.
