There are plenty of fancy hunting bullets on the market – but none has been around as long as the classic soft point. Federal loads their Power-Shok series 300 AAC Blackout cartridge with the 150 grain jacketed soft point you’ll need to pin down any buck you cross paths with, and it’s no less capable of helping a coyote fulfill its dream of becoming a rug.

This round’s JSP has a uniformly thick copper jacket and solid lead core. It’s not a match-grade projectile, but its 0.330 G1 ballistic coefficient does mean you can anticipate a satisfactorily flat trajectory – one that rises by about 6.2” when you zero in at 200 yards. The bullet actually retains sufficient momentum to undergo terminal expansion until it reaches 168 yards, but if you’re trying to adhere to the minimum 1,000 ft lbs of energy rule for whitetail hunting then you’ll want to keep your quarry within 77 yards.

Federal loads this supersonic ammo with trusty Boxer primers and new brass cases. This ammo is made in Minnesota, but it can be remade in your state of residence if you collect its reloadable cases.
