It’s no secret to be uttered only in soft tones – a 300 Whisper cartridge is so similar to a 300 AAC Blackout that the two might as well be interchangeable. If you’re taking your rifle out to do in coyote and other coop burglars, then Hornady’s ammo belongs in its magazine.

This round features Hornady’s premiere varmint breaker: the V-MAX. The bullet is a suite of accuracy enhancing features including its dense and swaged lead core, its ballistically efficient and concentric jacket, and its sharp polymer tip. The V-MAX’s tip is actually situated in such a way that its base stops just short of touching the core. That lets it accumulate big energy during penetration until it causes the entire V-MAX to burst in a lethal fury of fragmentation. If you put one V-MAX into one varmint, both should immediately cease to exist.

Hornady labors over their Custom line of ammunition to make sure it’s every bit as good as what an expert would turn out at his reloading bench. This round’s brass shell casing seats its .30 cal bullet perfectly, and its miniscule taper has been formed according to exacting standards. Hornady’s own proprietary propellant blend creates a predictable 2,375 fps muzzle velocity, and their primer can be counted on to cleanly ignite it.

(Little tip: This ammo isn’t remotely unsuitable for self-defense, either. Its accuracy and explosive terminal performance should prove just as undesirable to human-sized threats as they would any coyote.)
