Go have a look in your freezer. There are the frozen peas that have remained untouched since 1998. An icicle you discovered last winter, just waiting for a special occasion. Cinnamon schnapps – very fancy. But what’s this? No venison? Oh no. Better fix that by ordering a supply of Federal’s Power-Shok 300 Win Mag ammunition.

With a lead-free bullet, no less. This round’s 180 grain projectile is made of copper alloy, so it won’t land you in hot water with the authorities or foul up your barrel with lead residue. Nice. A copper bullet’s balanced weight distribution also gives it quite good rotational stability – a driving force behind this cartridge’s great accuracy. Better yet, copper alloy’s toughness almost completely preempts fragmentation. And in addition to deep penetration, the bullet’s terminal ballistics include wide, extremely harmful expansion.

Federal puts this round’s G1 ballistic coefficient at 0.330. If that figure doesn’t mean anything to you, just know that the bullet will undergo terminal expansion at ranges up to 420 yards, and also that it will avoid the transonic destabilization which impacts accuracy until it has reached approximately 825 yards (that’s all assuming that the bullet achieves its advertised muzzle velocity of 2,850 fps). Brass-cased, Boxer-primed, reloadable!
