Hornady loads their Outfitter series 300 Winchester Short Magnum ammunition with the Copper alloy eXpanding (CX). It’s pure copper bullet with a polymer tip, so it’s nontoxic and compliant with the rules you’re supposed to follow while hunting in certain areas. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the CX’s performance advantages!

The CX’s monolithic construction makes it tough. It will lose no less than 5% of its weight until it finally comes to a rest within its target, which promotes deep and deadly terminal penetration.

The CX’s inability to produce lead fouling and optimum groove geometry both enhance its accuracy. Its Heat Shield tip – which will not deform in response to aerodynamic heating – provides a truly sharp and ballistically efficient meplat. Alongside the CX’s uniform weight distribution, sleek profile and boat tail, the bullet reliably achieves a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.469. That translates to over 1,500 ft lbs of kinetic energy at 500 yards!

The CX’s tip rams inward to supply the rapid yet uniform terminal expansion which grounds large game fast. And because it is seated in a sealed, waterproofed and nickel-plated brass case, this ammo is at once reliable, corrosion resistant and extremely smooth-cycling.
