Despite what its branding suggests, this round is in fact loaded with a fairly typical soft point projectile. It is a high-quality representative of its class, however, as it possesses the nearly perfect jacket concentricity which is foundational to great accuracy. The 150 grain bullet reaches a muzzle velocity of 2,820 fps, at which rate it achieves a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.313. If you aim for a deer at 300 yards, you won’t have to compensate for a trajectory which rises by more than 7”.
The SP’s jacket begins peeling back upon striking the target, enabling the core to flatten down and produce a wide wound channel. The core and jacket withstand high-velocity impact without tearing apart from one another, thus assuring a deep enough wound channel to deliver the one-and-done kill.
Federal’s reloadable precision-drawn brass cases supply efficient cycling in all firearms, and their consistently paired primers and propellant charges only make their Non-Typical cartridges that much more satisfying to hunt with. Order 200 rounds and figure out what to do with five tons of venison later on down the road.
