At that point the XTP’s rim serrations and frontal section’s thin jacket both spring into action, delivering expansion even when impact energy is somewhat anemic.
When it is made for a revolver cartridge, the XTP is given a cannelure. It’s hardly high technology, but it is nevertheless effective at preventing the bullet from creeping out of its seating under recoil (which this round doesn’t generate in excess).
