If you want to find a trophy big animal use this
I went from 250 grain .338 Win Mag to 225 gr as the 225 seems to be an even sweeter spot. I've taken several large animals with this bullet and all are 1 shot kills. The first opportunity to retrieve it was a 300 yard shot on a sable. The guide said they never drop to the shot; this one did and the guide said he's dead as he fell seeing the impact. I hit the front shoulder and the off shoulder was a jelly mess with lungs badly damaged. The bullet had 100% weight retention! It shoots inch or better groups.
animal took too long to die
The shot was perfect. The deer went down immediately. Then it jumped up and ran. We waited an hour before following. Thank goodness the ground was we because there was very little blood. 500 yards later deer was retrieved. I really don't want to blame the ammo, sometimes deer are just stubbernly hard to put down. The deer was a Utah mule deer. I will give it this . Not much meet damage for such a large bullet. Thanks
