The 357 Magnum: arguably the most practical revolver cartridge for self-defense. Powerful enough so the threat quickly succumbs to their injury, but not so powerful that you wind up aiming at the ceiling after every time you fire a shot.

If you’re taking the 357 Magnum approach to personal protection, then you had better train with the same ammunition you’d trust during a crisis. Fiocchi’s Defense Dynamics product line makes doing so possible without immolating your savings.

This cartridge is loaded with a 148 grain projectile. It is a little heavier and a little slower than the 125 grain bullet many people choose for self-defense with a 357 Mag, but its greater momentum pays off in the form of deeper penetration. The nonmagnetic jacketed hollow point features a smooth-feeding semi-conic frontal profile, a cannelure that preserves seating depth during recoil, and notches around its nose cavity’s rim to facilitate faster expansion. Simple, effective, and also good for hunting whether you’re using a wheel gun or a lever gun.

Fiocchi is an Italian company. The name is a dead giveaway. Even so, these fine cartridges were loaded in the USA with dependable primers and newly minted reloadable brass cases.
