We want to confess something stupid to you. We’ve known each other for a long time now, so we’re comfortable enough around you to tell you this: We get excited whenever we see ammo for the 357 Magnum, because that was always the best gun in video games. Okay, okay, we’ve told you our secret – now what’s yours?

SIG Sauer is no secret. Headquartered in Eckernförde, Germany, the firearm and ammo manufacturer is known the world over for their products’ consistent quality. This range and plinking ammo ought to serve any revolver handsomely, and with its bullet’s flattened nose profile it ought to function safely in a Henry or other lever-action as well.

This round’s FMJ isn’t the best type of bullet you could employ for self-defense. Without expanding it’s liable to pass right through a threat, wasting available energy on whatever is behind it instead of the threat’s internal organs. Still, expansion or not a 357 Magnum is not a healthy thing to get hit by. That’s why we’d consider stockpiling this ammo for an emergency in addition to using it for target practice.

This round’s bullet weight, propellant charge, and primer are all designed to help it emulate the performance of SIG’s analogous V-Crown label self-defense ammo. Its brass case is fresh out of the factory and ready for reloading as soon as it’s empty.
