You’re not just any old cowboy. You’re a cowboy who loves his 38-55 Win rifle, and who might just intend to use that rifle during a serious cowboy action shooting competition. Thankfully, Black Hills of South Dakota makes just the ammo you need to bring home the gold, or just enjoy picking off targets with a cherished antique firearm.
This new production round is loaded with a 255 grain lead flat nose projectile – precisely the kind of bullet you’d expect to find on a 140-year-old cartridge. It’s not just a tried-and-true bullet design. Its flat nose connects just right with a flat steel silhouette, and its lack of copper presents a significantly reduced risk of splash-back while you’re firing against solid surfaces. (Black Hills calls the bullet a “flat nose lead,” which is the same thing as a LFN).
This is not overpressure ammo. It’s standard pressure, and should function safely and reliably in any rifle chambered for 38-55 so long as it’s in good working condition. Each cartridge features a noncorrosive Boxer primer and charge of clean-burning smokeless propellant, as well as a new brass case that can be reloaded multiple times.
