A: Thank you for reaching out George! I don't believe a soft point bullet would present any less risk of damage to the target or ricochet/splash-back as compared to a FMJ bullet. You would ideally fire frangible bullets if you wished to minimize those risks while shooting steel targets, although I regret we haven't got any frangible 38 Special ammo in stock. But people do safely train with steel targets with FMJ ammo all the time. You could certainly fire Blazer Brass, or you could opt in favor of the PMC or Magtech 38 Special FMJ ammo we currently have in stock as well. They're all fairly equivlent in quality.

A: Thanks for reaching out Bob! This round's 865 fps muzzle velocity was recorded out of a 4" test barrel. I regret that there's no definitive calculus for estimating a round's muzzle velocity out of a longer or shorter barrel, and I have not tested this ammo in a snubbie myself. That said, I would estimate that this round's muzzle velocity should decrease to about 635 fps when fired from a 2" barrel, but please don't hold me too closely to that estimation.
