A: Thanks for reaching out John! Grain is indeed the unit of measurement that reflects bullet weight. 1 grain = 1/437.5 oz. To be certain, recoil is actually the byproduct of four factors: firearm weight (heavier firearm = less recoil), bullet weight, propellant weight (lighter bullet/propellant = less recoil), and muzzle velocity (lower muzzle velocity = less recoil). This round's bullet isn't the lightest you could choose for 38 Spl, but its lower velocity (which will be even lower thanks to your revolver's short barrel) does imply that you'll get very reasonable recoil. If I'm being perfectly honest, you could find a lower-recoil round for target practice, but the difference would come down to just a few ft lbs of kinetic energy. I don't think you'd be able to tell a huge difference between this round and other loads that could technically be qualified as lower-recoil. The 38 Spl is inherently low recoil to begin with!
