What is Norma? They are Sweden’s largest ammunition producer, a subsidiary of Switzerland’s RUAG. What does “Norma” mean? Why, it was one of the company founders’ favorite operas, of course. (Ours is Rambo: First Blood Part II.) Should you order Norma’s range and training ammo for your 38 Special or 357 Magnum revolver or lever-action rifle? Absolutely!

Norma issued this round a 158 grain bullet, and its 968 fps muzzle velocity is exactly what you should expect of such a bullet weight. That means it’s going to treat you to recoil and a trajectory very much like a dedicated self-defense cartridge. As a non-expanding FMJ its bullet isn’t going to behave like you would want for self-defense, but it has its own virtues. Its sloping profile makes it super easy to drop into a revolver’s cylinder, and its flat, level tip will produce a neat and tidy hole through a paper target to simplify scoring. Its flat nose profile is also compatible with a lever-action’s tubular magazine.

This Swedish-made ammo offers fine target grade accuracy with its consistent primers and propellant charges. Norma makes their brass cases as attentively as they do everything else, so you’ll want to save them to handload – or at least to give to a handloader!
